As we enter the month of June, it’s time to reflect upon the first half of 2018. Have the last 5 months gone the way we would have liked? How have we changed or grown?
Many people feel that they always need to be doing something and they just keep going and going until they hurt themselves. Either their adrenals are starting to give out or they are having thyroid problems. Maybe they’ve been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, or they’ve simply felt anxious, depressed, and stuck in negative loops that they can’t seem to break free from.
I know what it feels like to have endless to-do lists and burn out. But it’s not about what we are doing, it’s about who we are becoming in the doing. If perfection to you is checking off a list that simply repeats day after day, year after year, without any internal awareness or growth, then I think we’ve missed the mark! What we really need to do is slow down and develop the clarity needed to envision the best outcome of who we’d like to become, and then consciously make efforts to achieve it.
We need to ask ourselves why we need to be busy all the time. And what happens if we stop? If we experience anxiety when we try to stop, we may need to check if we are trying to avoid emotions or issues that we don’t know how to face on our own. If feelings of low self-worth or insecurity come up, then we need to check our belief systems, and figure out what limiting beliefs are controlling our lives.
